  • Farm Equipment at Railroad Crossings

  • These are things you should never do with farm equipment:

    • Never attempt to cross rails where your equipment is prone to bottom-out.
    • Never stop too close to a crossing on a tractor equipped with a front bucket.
    • Never assume that trains run on a strict schedule. Always expect a train.
    • Never approach a crossing too fast to make a safe emergency stop.
    • Never attempt to cross rails if your equipment is too wide.
    • Never follow another piece of equipment across without looking and listening first.

And remember: A closed cab, an operating radio, or a headset may impair your ability to hear an approaching train.
